  8. UPDATED 2 April 2024: An edit of Father's Song #2 was added in November 1983. The 2 July 1984 saxophone overdubs on the Family tracks received their own entries rather than being a note to the #1s. This also affected the numbering of subsequent versions.

  9. UPDATED 8 April 2024: The 27 September 1984 Wendy & Lisa overdub session at Sunset Sound was specified with All Day, All Night as the third track. Thanks to VasChristian and TheSilentMikey. And of course, this affected the subsequent numbering of All Day, All Night versions. Also, the 27-28/2 1984 entry for Love And Sex was split up into two entries as there are two versions of that song. Thanks to JorisE73 and TheSilentMikey. Finally, a Vanity 6 song titled May I Introduce My Sex To Yours? was tentatively added in the Spring-Summer 1983 entry thanks to PrinceVault.

  10. UPDATED 9 April 2024: An edit of We Can Fuck was tentatively placed after #1 in the December 1983-January 1984 entry. Thanks to JorisE73. And of course this affected the numbering of subsequent We Can Funk reworkings so now there's eleven versions of the song in the Chronological Prince Recordings Index: First We Can Funk and now the edit here, then three versions of the 17 June 1986 warehouse re-recording with the Revolution, then two 1989 Graffiti Bridge versions with Prince vocals and three 1990 Graffiti Bridge versions with George Clinton and a 1992 reworking for Clinton's album. Phew...
